LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT/KARK) – Linemen crews from Arkansas are ready to help as Hurricane Helene approaches Florida.
Content partner KARK reported that crews from the Natural State arrived on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with some coming from Entergy Arkansas, who are stationed in Georgia. Others from the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas are stationed in Keystone, Florida.
“They’re calling it a beast. They’re saying maybe top 10 hurricanes for Florida,” General Foreman Mike Matty said. “You got to mentally prepare for it, and a lot of the guys are on the fifth floor of the motel here, and they’re like ‘I think I’m going to stay on the bottom floor for that.”
As of 8:40 p.m., more than 100,000 people have already lost power in Florida and Georgia according to PowerOutage.us.
You can read more about the crews’ duties on KARK’s website.
