No. 17 Michigan football played to the last drive in Saturday’s Big Ten opener vs. No. 12 USC, as the Wolverines pulled off the come-from-behind, 27-24 victory.
But perhaps a bigger win — grammatically at least — was made by the jumbotron operator at Michigan Stadium.
On a third-and-7 at one point in the game, a “Lincoln Riley Thinks Your Quiet” message showed up on the board, obviously prompting Wolverine fans to get loud to force a stop on defense. However, there was a considerable grammatical error, as “Your” should have been “You’re.”
It was shortly fixed later in the game, as noted by Front Office Sports’ Daniel Roberts on X (formerly Twitter).

Regardless of the grammatical error, the message seemed to work, especially on USC’s final drive. Coupled with the pressure dialed up by Wolverines defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and the loudness inside The Big House, Miller Moss and the Trojans were unable to get into field goal range to force overtime or score a go-ahead touchdown.
Wolverines quarterback Alex Orji finished 7 of 12 passing for 32 yards in his first start since taking over for Davis Warren. Orji also had 13 carries for 43 rushing yards. Kalel Mullings sealed the win for Michigan with a game-winning touchdown with 37 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Michigan not only moved to 1-0 in the Big Ten but also picked up its first signature win of the Sherrone Moore Era in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines will next play Minnesota in Week 5 at The Big House.
