Fever star Caitlin Clark on getting fourth place in WNBA MVP voting
The Phoenix Mercury had a fast start against the Minnesota Lynx, but fell to a 56-42 deficit at halftime in Game 1 of the first round of the WNBA playoffs in Minneapolis.
Napheesa Collier has been difficult to stop as she’s scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Natasha Cloud has been the Mercury’s bright spot, helping the team through dry spells with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
The Mercury scored two consecutive layups for a quick 4-0 lead and hung tight with the Lynx for the first eight points. But a 14-0 run gave the Lynx momentum for the entire first half.
The Lynx were hard to defend from the 3-point line, sinking six 3s on 14 attempts (42.9%). They’ve also edged the Mercury in the paint, outscoring 20-16.
