EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Western Wisconsin has become a point of focus for the upcoming presidential election with both Democrats and Republicans campaigning heavily to secure voters from the counties of this crucial swing state.
Senator Tina Smith of Minnesota arrived in Eau Claire on Sunday to campaign in support of presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Smith met with local residents at Scooters Bar downtown to discuss issues voters care about while watching Sunday afternoon’s football game.
Smith emphasized the importance of Western Wisconsin in the upcoming election and how much influence the area has in shaping the results of the election.
“These are swing counties. These are places where voters can go either way and so the decisions these voters make in this part of Wisconsin will make all the difference for who controls the United States Senate, who controls the State Assembly and who is in the White House,” Sen. Smith said. “It’s great to be here talking to people and I want people to understand that their votes are really powerful that they have a real say in the direction of Wisconsin and this country, and they should use their voices.”
This event comes as Vice President Kamala Harris and vice-presidential candidate JD Vance are expected to make stops in Western Wisconsin this week while on the campaign trail.
