Around 7:40 a.m., Richard fled from state troopers on I-40 and turned onto Highway 161 before turning onto railroad tracks, state police said.
Richard broke into Village Travel and stole the $150,000 bus around 3 a.m., jail records show. Richard also struck the 7 Brew coffee shop at 8023 Cantrell Road, according to records.
Richard drove the bus into the Union Pacific rail yard terminal at 1020 W. Bethany Road in North Little Rock before a state trooper shot the bus’s tires. Richard was not injured and was arrested. Richard was taken to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility and court records show he was set for a video arraignment this morning.
The Arkansas State Police is investigating the officer-involved shooting portion of the incident and the Little Rock Police Department is investigating the theft of the bus.
