Ty Hamilton has been a part of Ohio State’s defensive line rotation since 2021.
He made eight starts last season and figures to be an even more integral part of the interior this fall after fellow defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. left early for the NFL.

Ty Hamilton has moved from end to tackle at Ohio State
When Hamilton was in high school at Pickerington Central, he lined up as a defensive end and projected to be on the edge of the line of scrimmage.
A majority of the recruiting websites forecasted him as a defensive end.
But the Buckeyes have featured him as a tackle, an important interior cog in their run defense as he rotated with Tyleik Williams and Hall in previous seasons.
He’s added weight as a result. Ohio State listed the 6-foot-3 tackle at 278 pounds as a freshman in 2020. He’s now at 295 pounds.
Ty Hamilton ended 2023 Ohio State season on a strong note
Half of Hamilton’s tackles last season came within the last month-plus.
In the last five games, he had 19 out of his 38 tackles. He twice had a career-high six tackles in a win at Rutgers and in the loss to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.
Two of his six tackles in the bowl game were behind the line of scrimmage as well, resulting in a loss of 4 yards.
Both of his two sacks came during the stretch run as well.
Ty Hamilton has a family pedigree at Ohio State
He is the younger brother of DaVon Hamilton, the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle who played for the Buckeyes from 2015-19.
DaVon Hamilton broke out late in his career at Ohio State. After being a backup for his first four seasons, he took hold of a starting spot as a redshirt senior and was a third-team All-Big Ten selection.
It was a similar career trajectory as Ty Hamilton has followed.
