Wide receiver Justin Jefferson is the only Minnesota Vikings player in Pro Football Focus’ list of the top 50 NFL players heading into the 2024 season.
It’s no surprise that Jefferson — who is also considered the best player at his position — is ranked so highly on the list, No. 4 overall. Only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (No. 1), Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett (No. 2), and San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams (No. 3) are ranked higher.
The next top-rated pass-catcher on the list is Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill at No. 8.
Vikings roster preview: Will a new QB hinder Justin Jefferson’s ascension?
Even with missing seven games due to an injury last season, Jefferson still eclipsed over 1,000 receiving yards and further cemented his status as essentially unstoppable.
According to PFF, he averaged 2.91 yards per route run and dropped just two of the 98 targets thrown his way. Keep in mind that he also dealt with a quarterback carousel when he returned after Kirk Cousins went down.
PFF rated Jefferson as the fifth-best wide receiver in the league last season, giving him a 91.1 overall grade, a 91.2 receiving grade (4th) and a 57.2 run grade. He has ranked in the top five of PFF’s overall receivers every year he’s been in the league.
While Jefferson will yet again see new passers this season in Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy, the 25-year-old will surely still impact the game at a high level.
