LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — The Town of Lincoln announced Wednesday that an “over-pressurization” was detected in some Rhode Island Energy gas service lines in the Manville area.
According to the town, R.I. Energy will visit each affected home and business twice — once to shut off gas service and a second time to restore it after all lines are secured and gas has been safely reintroduced into the system.
The impacted streets include:
Manville Public Safety Alert 9-25-24
Central
Division
New River
Old River
Park
Pearl
Prospect
Railroad
Sayles Hill
Spring
Summer
Winter
Residents in these areas may have also received a public safety alert on their phones.
Customers were reportedly sent the following message:
“Hello, this is Rhode Island Energy with an important message.
Our gas system in your region has been taken offline temporarily. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to restore gas as soon as possible. To ensure the safety of our customers, please be advised Field Technicians will be going from house to house to perform inspections and survey the area. Access to your meter is required. If you are not home, please contact us at 1-855-743-1101 and we will schedule a time to restore service.”
