Top-class golf comes from Europe and North America this week as the DP World Tour stars travel to Spain for the Open de España while the USA and International teams prepare to do battle in the 16th edition of the Presidents Cup in Canada.
The build-up to the Open de España has been dominated by talk of Jon Rahm’s bid to retain his Ryder Cup eligibility. The Spaniard, who withdrew from the LIV Team Championship last week, is 10/3 to win his national tournament for a fourth time at Club de Campo Villa in Madrid.
Team USA, captained by Jim Furyk, are 2/5 to win a 10th consecutive Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club while Mike Weir’s International team – a 12-man outfit of players from outside America and Europe – are 12/5 to pull off the upset.

Wallace ready to reign in Spain
Englishman Matt Wallace closed with a magnificent 64 to share 12th place at Wentworth on Sunday – his best BMW PGA Championship finish – and he appears ready to seal a sixth DP World Tour victory in Madrid.
Open de España favourite Rahm arrives with risks attached, and that could open the door for Wallace, who is in fine form after winning the European Masters earlier this month, just a week after finishing eighth at the British Masters.
The Londonder has been putting and scrambling superbly recently and looks a good fit for Club de Campo Villa.

Fitzpatrick poised for breakthrough
Sheffield-born Alex Fitzpatrick missed the cut by a shot at Wentworth but struck his irons well and could return to the form that had him posting DP World Tour results of 6-12-6-9 before last week’s aberration.
The 25-year-old finished 20th on his Club de Campo Villa debut last season and can continue to knock on the door as he goes in search of a first top-level victory.

Ferguson can build on Wentworth effort
Having finished ninth on his first start at Club de Campo Villa last season, there are reasons to believe that Glaswegian Ewen Ferguson is set for another big week in Spain.
He has not been on top form since winning the BMW International Open in July but produced his best tee-to-green performance for some time to finish 18th at Wentworth. The Scot looks a threat if he putts as well as he did in Madrid a year ago.

Winning margin – USA to win by 4-6 points @ 15/4 with bet365
American domination set to continue
The USA have kept a tight grip on the Presidents Cup in recent years and there is no obvious reason why their dominance will not stretch to a 10th consecutive victory in the matchplay competition at Royal Montreal this week.
Furyk leads a 12-man team featuring five members of the world’s top 10, including the winners of three of the four majors, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, while Weir’s hand is considerably weaker.
As LIV Golf stars are unable to participate, the Internationals are without Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann, Louis Oosthuizen and a number of others. That reality presents a bigger problem for Weir than that faced by Furyk, who has to contend with the absence of Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka but has plenty of strength in reserve.
The Internationals have come closest to winning in “home” Presidents Cups in recent editions. Conditions in Canada will be more familiar to the American team than those in South Korea (2015) and Australia (2019).
Instead of taking a short price on the USA, back the victory margin to closely resemble the 2022 edition that they won 17.5-12.5.
Tip: Winning margin – USA to win by 4-6 points @ 15/4 with bet365
