Mesa Mountain View started the second season of AIA-sanctioned flag football with a close win over Mesa Eastmark.
The 2024 high school flag football season, the second as an officially sanctioned sport by the Arizona Interscholastic Association, is off to a roaring start. The level of play already higher as the sport continues to grow in the state. This season, The Arizona Republic is releasing weekly rankings. There will be a Super 10, the best teams regardless of conference, as well rankings for 6A, 5A and 4A conferences. (Rankings are based on pay through last week).

Super 10Mesa Mountain View (2-0): Beat Mesa Eastmark 14-9 in the season opener and Mesa Red Mountain in a 15-14 thriller in the second game in the Honor Bowl.Chandler Hamilton (2-0): Dismantled Phoenix Xavier 48-14 in the Arizona Cardinals game of the week in the season opener before edging out a 17-0 win over Gilbert Campo Verde at the Honor Bowl.Mesa Red Mountain (2-1): Breezed past Flagstaff 31-0 to open the season up and then Goodyear Millennium 15-0, barely lost to No. 1 Mountain View on a last-second field goal.Marana (2-0): Took down Mesa Desert Ridge 27-9 and Case Grande 14-3 to begin the 2024 season.Gilbert Highland (2-0): Beat Coconino 26-6 in the first game, then defeated Gilbert Campo Verde 19-7.Phoenix Mountain Pointe (2-0): Played Chandler Arizona College Prep in a close game, 14-9, before blowing out Mesa Westwood 41-0.Glendale Mountain Ridge (2-0): Started off with a 34-0 win over Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain and a 20-14 win over Phoenix Desert Vista to begin the season.Gilbert Campo Verde (1-2): Beat Scottsdale Chaparral 20-0 in the season opener before losing to two of the state’s top teams, Highland and Hamilton.Waddell Canyon View (1-0): Only played one game last week, but it was a resounding 42-14 win over Buckeye Verrado.Mesa Desert Ridge (1-1): Fell to Marana 27-7 in the season opener, rebounded with a 20-14 win over Phoenix Desert Vista.
