PHOENIX (AZFamily) — How do you like your biscuits? With gravy, maybe jam? How about at the top of a mountain?
If you wake up early enough you can enjoy biscuits with incredible views of Phoenix—all courtesy of one man who is doing Something Good.

In 2020, Daniel Angulo started serving up hot biscuits and gravy at the top of Piestewa Peak. It was a way to combine two of his favorite things: food and hiking.
While he has served the savory breakfast staple sporadically since he started, a year ago, he committed to doing it once a month during the cool season in Phoenix.
He said people love it and are so grateful.
His pack, which includes a table, portable burner, the food and more, weighs about 60 pounds. Daniel can get to the top of Piestewa in about 45 minutes carrying all the items.
He does not charge anyone for the biscuits, but he does take donations.
The line forms quickly early in the morning as the sun is coming up, and Daniel said he usually goes through the 60 biscuits by 7:30 in the morning.
He said his mountain-top breakfast spreads positivity and is something cool to do in Phoenix.
He can go through 60 biscuits pretty quickly, especially now that word is getting out.
“I’ve had people come from different states, have had people travel here. People have driven from all over the state to come out here,” Angulo said. “And I’ve served over 600 people so far over the years.”
Daniel said his next biscuit and gravy service will be October 19 at the top of Piestewa!
