The Tennessee Titans revamped their offensive line during the offseason, giving hope that things would get better after two horrendous years upfront. But that has not been the case through three games, as things are just about as bad as ever.
After giving up four sacks last week to the New York Jets, the Titans surrendered double that in Week 3 to the Green Bay Packers, which only made Will Levis struggles even worse.
Arguably the biggest issue upfront has been right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, who had yet another lackluster showing on Sunday, which led to him getting benched for fellow tackle, Jaelyn Duncan, who almost immediately gave up a sack — go figure.
After the game, NPF shared his reaction to the benching.
“I believe that if I have a job to do and when Will gets hit, it is my [expletive] responsibility,” Petit-Frere said, per John Glennon of Nashville Post. “And if I [expletive] like that, it’s unacceptable. I’m not being accounted for, and I need to figure out why I did that and what I need to do to be better.”
“I had bad technique,” Petit-Frere added, per Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky. “I took full accountability for that. We talked about it as well. We looked at film. That’s the main thing, we’re going to put [Jaelyn Duncan] in, and that was the main conversation there.”

So, will Duncan remain in the starting spot moving forward? Head coach Brian Callahan indicated he will while also noting nothing is solidified at right tackle.
“We’ll see what [Jaelyn Duncan] can do,” Callahan said. “We’ll come back and see where we can get better. … That job is not solidified by any stretch.”
The Titans have some serious issues on offense. Not only is Levis playing bad ball, the offensive line can’t protect him, which only exacerbates his problems. Clearly it takes more than a legendary offensive line coach to get competent play upfront.
