Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin’s presser after GA Southern
Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin’s opening statement after the Rebels’ 52-13 win against Georgia Southern.
OXFORD − Ole Miss football dominated again, this time in front of a record crowd.
The Rebels beat Georgia Southern 52-13 on Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The No. 5 Rebels were tested early when Georgia Southern scored the first touchdown of the season against them, and then immediately recovered an onside kick. After that second-quarter hiccup, though, the Rebels pulled away.
Ole Miss moved to 4-0 and sank the Eagles record to 2-2.

Georgia Southern kicker Gavin Stewart scores the Eagles’ first points of the second half with a long kick.
The big man strikes again. Defensive tackle JJ Pegues took a handoff on the goal line and went airborne. He crashed down to earth for a touchdown. It’s Pegues’ second score of the year.
Coming off play action, Jaxson Dart launched a pass deep down the left sideline toward receiver Tre Harris. Man coverage was no match for Harris, who has been one of the nation’s top receivers this season. It’s the 25th touchdown of Harris’s career.
The Eagles have momentum. After initially being flagged for being recovered out of bounds, the result of Georgia Southern’s onside kick was overturned after review. Georgia Southern takes over near midfield.
Finally, a team has done it. Georgia Southern scored the first touchdown against Ole Miss this season on a halfback pass. Three penalties aided the Eagles’ 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive.
Ole Miss’ receivers have gotten loose in the middle of the field multiple times in the first quarter. Quarterback Jaxson Dart has exploited it, this time completing a pass to Jordan Watkins. Dart notches his second touchdown throw of the game.
After wreaking havoc on Georgia Southern’s opening possession, Pegues walked off the game grasping his left shoulder. He came into the game at right tackle on a third-and-one situation. Quarterback Jaxson Dart took it up the middle himself to move the chains with 6:07 left.
On their first play from scrimmage, the Eagles lose a fumble. Rebels defensive lineman JJ Pegues recovers the fumble but exits the game holding his left shoulder. It sets up Ole Miss at the 8-yard line.
Ole Miss has a lightning strike. Jaxson Dart completes two long passes on the opening drive and Ole Miss scores in 31 seconds.

Ole Miss vs Georgia Southern historySeries record: N/A. Ole Miss and Georgia Southern played once in 2016. The Rebels won that game 37-27, but the game was vacated because of an NCAA ruling.Ole Miss vs Georgia Southern predictions
While Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart has generated Heisman buzz with his early performance, look for running back Henry Parrish to be a key focus. The Eagles’ defense is susceptible to elite running backs and Parrish comes into the game on a tear. Defensively, Ole Miss’s pass rushers will have to pressure the pass-happy Georgia Southern offense. The consistent pressure the Rebels defensive line has been creating is a big reason for Ole Miss’ undefeated start.
