Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Marshall vs. Ohio State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
The Thundering Herd picked up a 45-3 victory in the opener against FCS Stony Brook, covering as a 31-point favorite. In the most recent game at Virginia Tech Sept. 7, while it lost 31-14, Marshall covered as a 21-point underdog. The Under has connected in both games.
The Buckeyes have also been off since Sept. 7, when it pounded Western Michigan 56-0 as a 37-point favorite as the Over (54.5) just came through. Ohio State failed to cover in the opener against Akron, winning 52-6 as a 49-point favorite as the Over (56) connected.

Ohio State 48, Marshall 10
Moneyline
There was no money line at the time of publishing, but it wouldn’t be worth pursuing even if one is released before kickoff.
Against the spread
Back MARSHALL +40 (-110), as both teams have had a full 2 weeks off. The Thundering Herd won’t make this a close game, but it should be able to at least score the most points of any team Ohio State -40 (-110) has faced this season.
The Buckeyes defense has limited their 2 previous opponents, both from the MAC, to just 6 points. However, Marshall has shown ability on offense in a trip to Virginia Tech, especially in the run game, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Thundering Herd get to double digits.
Over/Under
OVER 52.5 (-110) is worth pursuing, as, again, Marshall has the ability to at least get to double digits on the scoreboard. The Thundering Herd ran for 147 yards at Virginia Tech. And, while Ohio State has a much better offense and defense than the Hokies, Marshall is a much better team than both Akron and Western Michigan, too.
The Buckeyes are going to score their fair share of points, and if the Thundering Herd do struggle like the previous 2 Ohio State opponents, the Buckeyes could potentially take care of the Over without any assistance from the Herd. It was surprising to see this number so low. Take advantage.
