It starts with Danny Stutsman. He is the leader of the defense and a future top-50 draft pick. He has been fantastic against the run this year, playing both the MIKE and WILL linebacker spots. Over the last two years, when Stutsman’s been available for the entire game, the Sooners have only lost one game. Oklahoma also relies on a talented safety duo in Billy Bowman and Robert Spears-Jennings. Both guys are really good against the run and pass, and each has an interception this season. The defensive tackle group is much improved from years past, led by Damonic Williams, Jayden Jackson, Da’Jon Terry and Gracen Halton. Defensive end R Mason Thomas had three sacks, a forced fumble, fumble recovery and a pass deflection in the final six minutes in Oklahoma’s win over Tulane.
