There are less than six Fridays left until Taylor Swift takes the stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, and time is running out for Swifties looking for a hotel or vacation rental for the Eras Tour.
As of September 18, most hotels and short term rentals in the greater New Orleans area were booked up, east bank and west bank included. Fans still looking for a place to sleep will likely need to look further outside of the city for cheaper prices.
Here are some of the best options we could find. Remember, prices can vary the closer we get Oct. 25, the date of the first Taylor Swift concert.
The last New Orleans options
There are several short-term rentals left in the city’s center left, but prices are skyrocketing and there’s limited availability.
On Airbnb, a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo within walking distance to the Superdome costs $240 a night on the weekend of Sept. 20-23. That same condo is going for $1,381 the weekend of the Eras Tour.
And most hotels in neighborhoods nearby the Dome are already sold out or are running over $600 per night for a room, including popular options like Le Méridien and Hyatt Place.
Other 1-bedroom listings on Airbnb for Taylor Swift weekend were running for $675, $729 and $810, all before the extra fees the short-term rental website tacks on.
Northshore options
Drive time to Caesars Superdome: Slidell- 35 min, Mandeville 35 min, Covington- 50 min
It may not be as glamorous as the city, but suburbs on the other side of Lake Pontchartrain are becoming tourism destinations in their own rite. However, most of the hotel and vacation rental options on the Northshore are already full.
Slidell does still have several hotels with rooms available along with a handle full Airbnbs and Vrbo rentals, according to the companies’ websites. Prices for room listings on Airbnb were running for an average of $125 a night and hotels left ranged from $220-$375 a night.
But in Mandeville and Covington, things are very limited.
Mandeville, a city arranged right along Lake Pontchartrain, is the likely the closest option to the city, and it boasts fabulous restaurants and bars to fully celebrate ahead of Taylor’s concert.
Several room listings on Airbnb were still open in the area for $150 or less, along with a couple of 1-bedroom condos for around $200 a night.
The Northshore is also hosting several activities for Swift fans across St. Tammany Parish, including a special yoga session, trivia night, drag brunches, so officials hope fans will join their side of the lake for celebrations.
Bay St. Louis
Drive time to Caesars Superdome: 1 hour
For the real girls’ vacation option, there’s Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, nestled just across state lines. The quaint beach town has plenty of available short-term rentals still open and a few hotel rooms, according to booking websites.
Yes, the drive in to the city for the concert may be long. But with Swift’s 274 songs to choose from, there’s plenty of options for a good playlist to make the ride go by faster.
Plus, you’ll have a chance to soak up the last bit of beach left before the Gulf Coast actually gets cold, or you can explore the antique shops and and historic exhibits.
Prices for rentals on Airbnb in the Bay during Taylor Swift weekend ranged around $125-$225 a night. There’s also a couple of rooms left at the Pearl Hotel right on Main Street downtown, and the new Driftwood Hotel right on Highway 90 has some availability.
The Hollywood Casino, nestled on the water about a mile from the highway, also has a hotel tower.
So even with the extra price in gas, you could still come out on top.
