Warmer weather set to return to Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A dry and slightly warmer day is on tap for much of Arizona. In the Valley, look for morning temperature in the 60s and 70s to warm to 99 degrees this afternoon. Partly sunny skies this morning will give way to mostly sunny skies for the afternoon.

Winds are expected to pick up across Arizona today and tomorrow, with afternoon gusts in the Valley of 20 to 30 miles per hour. The winds are in response to an approaching storm system to our west.

At this point, the Valley is unlikely to see any rain from this storm, but it will cool us off slightly for Friday and Saturday when afternoon highs will stay below average in the mid-90s.

A few light showers and thunderstorms are possible in the high country late Friday into early Saturday. Snow showers may mix in with the rain at times at the very highest elevations, bringing what could be the first snow of the season to the mountain tops above 10,000 feet.

Dry weather and a warming trend look to continue for the Valley into next week. As high pressure builds and amplifies over the region, temperatures climb back to the triple digits starting Sunday. Look for a high of 102 on Sunday and 105 by Tuesday and Wednesday.
