Oklahoma State introduces new wrestling coach David Taylor
New Oklahoma State wrestling coach David Taylor proved he can still compete at the top level.
On Saturday, Taylor won the 92-kilogram weight class of the United States Senior World Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.
That clinched a spot for Taylor on the Team USA roster for the sixth time in seven years. He will travel to compete in the Senior World Championships in Tirana, Albania, at the end of October.
One of the country’s most accomplished wrestlers in history, Taylor has won gold at back-to-back World Championships and has four World or Olympic titles throughout his career.
Taylor clinched his spot by defeating 2023 World bronze medalist Zahid Valencia with two straight victories in the best-of-three championship series.
