If you look up at the night sky Friday night, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to see the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis.
People can see the Northern Lights right over the Massachusetts and Vermont-New Hampshire border, according to a map from the Space and Weather Prediction Center.
People should look north between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. to see the lights, according to the Boston Globe.

The Northern Lights are a result of energized particles from the sun entering Earth’s atmosphere at high speeds, according to space.com. But, Earth’s magnetic field protects us from the flurry of space particles.
As Earth’s magnetic field redirects the particles toward its poles, the process produces colorful streams of light that bounce across the night sky, space.com reported.
