Wilmington’s Stitch House Brewery closes
Wilmington’s Stitch House Brewery closed Monday after it was sold to the owners of Bardea Food & Drink.
Fall at the Delaware beaches is known as “the shoulder season,” “local’s summer” and now, “festival season.”
There are a lot of can’t-miss events packing the weekends in September and October, without even including Halloween. Over the next two months, you can see an authentic powwow, learn about our coast, take the kids to get their faces painted and visit hundreds of vendors.
Here are all the festivals and events coming to southern Delaware this fall:
Saturday, Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Bethany Beach boardwalk, bethanybeachartsfestival.com
Over 100 juried artists selling jewelry, glass, pottery, paintings, photography, woodwork and more.
Saturday, Sept. 7, and Sunday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Hudson Fields, Milton, nanticokeindians.org
The Nanticoke Tribe’s 46th annual powwow will feature Native American dancing and drums, as well as food and a car show.
Heroes Day
Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Evans Park, Millville, millville.delaware.gov
A day to honor and meet first responders, with rescue vehicles, a helicopter, kids’ activities and food.
Sunday, Sept. 15, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., North Race Street, Georgetown, festivalhispano.org
This annual festival, hosted by First State Community Action and The Voice Radio Network, features a live music lineup, food and vendors. Last year, about 20,000 people attended, according to the festival website.
Friday, Sept. 20, to Sunday, Sept. 22, Indian River Marina, Delaware Seashore State Park, docksidede.com
This fishing tournament, setting off from the Indian River Marina, will offer $35,000 in prize money for tuna, mahi and flounder.
Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22, Cape Henlopen High School, Lewes, deexpos.com
The sixth annual Fall Home Expo aims to connect local businesses and organizations with residents and prospective residents.
Sunday, Sept. 22, noon to 6 p.m., American Legion Post 28, Long Neck, familypromisesouthernde.org
This festival benefits the nonprofit Family Promise of Southern Delaware, which helps families struggling with housing insecurity. It will feature live music, food and craft vendors.
Friday, Oct. 4, to Sunday, Oct. 6, Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, beach-fun.com
Businesses throughout Rehoboth and Dewey and on Coastal Highway will host sidewalk sales this weekend.
Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Delaware Coastal Airport, Georgetown, wings-wheels.com
A free festival featuring modern and vintage aircraft, classic cars, entertainment, food, vendors and more.
Saturday, Oct. 5, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1812 Park, Lewes, leweschamber.com
A festival featuring free boat tours, kids’ activities, music and more.
Saturday, Oct. 5, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., The Starboard, Dewey Beach, deweygoespink.com
Participate in a 5K race or a 1-mile “fun walk” to benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, or just go to have fun and make a donation.
Sunday, Oct. 6., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., University of Delaware Hugh R. Sharp Campus, Lewes, udel.edu
A free festival featuring hands-on activities, boat and laboratory tours, science lectures and a wide range of exhibits.
Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lewes Historical Society, historiclewes.org
This festival features over 50 artisans, demonstrations, workshops provided by the Developing Artists Coalition, local food trucks and Delaware distilleries and breweries. Tickets are $10; children 12 and under get in free.

This event, held throughout Rehoboth and Dewey Beach every Columbus Day weekend, brings together greyhound and sighthound owners.

Harvest Fest

An event for all ages with activities such as pumpkin decorating and scarecrow making, face painting, costumed characters, a bounce house, hayrides, food and more. Tickets are $10 per person.

This 12th annual festival features numerous “straight ahead” jazz performers in Rehoboth and Lewes.
Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., downtown Rehoboth Beach, bvspca.org
This free event offers a Dock Dogs dive competition, yoga with puppies, pet costume contest, kids’ activities, adoptable dogs, vendors and entertainment.
