Presidential debate: Did Kamala Harris or Donald Trump win?
As the last debate knocked President Joe Biden off the Democratic ticket, this one may set up Harris or Trump to win the White House.
Former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump is headed out west following his Tuesday face-off against Vice President Kamala Harris on the debate stage.
It is the second time in roughly three months Trump has made a swing through the Golden State on a fundraising spree, forgoing any campaign rallies in his opponent’s deep blue home state.
The GOP nominee is heading to a Los Angeles evening reception Thursday, where tickets prices range from $3,300 to $250,000 per person, before heading to San Francisco the following day for a similarly big-ticket event.

The San Francisco event is hosted by tech billionaire Tom Siebel, according to the Los Angeles Times, a relative of California’s First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Tickets for that event, to be held in a wealthy town just outside of Palo Alto, are going for roughly $500,000.
California is home to many mega-donors, making it an inevitable stop for candidates during election years. While money from the state’s massive entertainment and business industries has long been critical sources of campaign funds, power players in the billion-dollar tech sphere have already poured millions into Harris’ and Trump’s campaigns, solidifying Silicon Valley as California’s new kingmaker.
During his last pass though the state in June, Trump raised $12 million at the home of another San Francisco tech billionaire, David Sacks. His running mate JD Vance made his own cash grab in Palo Alto in July, hosted by crypto billionaire Mike Belshe.

However, Harris holds considerable advantages in California, the source of nearly a quarter of her campaign funding, topping $136 million according to public campaign disclosures as of Sep. 11. In contrast, Trump has raised just under $41 million from California, outpaced by larger funders based in Wyoming, Florida and Texas.
