Flight 93 Memorial ceremony includes Bells of Remembrance
The bells will ring once for the name of each person lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, crash.
SHANKSVILLE ― The 23rd annual memorial service to honor those aboard Flight 93 and remember the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. begins at 9:45 a.m. today at the Flight 93 National Memorial.

For those who cannot attend the morning service in person, a live stream broadcast is available on the Flight 93 National Memorial’s YouTube channel.
U.S. President Joseph Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Josh Shapiro are all expected to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial on Wednesday to pay their respects to the passengers and crew of Flight 93.
The bells of remembrance tolled just before 10:30 a.m. as the names of those lost on Flight 93 were read by volunteer Matthew LeBlanc. Friends of Flight 93 members Donna Gibson and Fred Lukachinsky rang the bell as each name was announced.
The service ended at 10:33 a.m.
Reports are circulating that former President Donald Trump, who is again running for the post, also will make an appearance in the Shanksville area today around 2:45 p.m., but there has been no official confirmation from his office. We will update you if or when details are released.
The ceremony began around 9:40 a.m., mirroring when issues first became noticed with the flight 23 years ago, with a speech by Stephen Clark, superintendent of the Flight 93 National Museum.
The Pledge of Allegiance was by volunteer Paul Donati.
Names of the passengers and crews lost in the crash then were read by Matthew LeBlanc, another volunteer.
According to Roll Call, President Joe Biden’s daily schedule has him landing at the Johnston airport at about noon after visiting the World Trade Center site in New York City. The schedule has him arriving at the ceremony at approximately 12:20 p.m. and participating in the wreath-laying.
His schedule also has him leaving the airport at 3:15 p.m.
Officials began around 9:15 a.m. to test the bells that will be rung in remembrance of those lost on Flight 93.
The names will be called out by Matthew LeBlanc, a volunteer.
The crowd has begun to gather for the morning ceremony. The day is sunny and clear. Details still remain vague on speakers. The area was filling up quickly as of 8 a.m.
