The moves. The acquisitions. The new coach. The new coordinators.
The loss.
The Tennessee Titans went to Chicago and lost to the Bears 24-17 on Sunday in Week 1. The Titans had a 17-3 lead at halftime, then coughed it — and the ball — up.
Will Levis, in his second season with the team but first as the starter, had what could only be called a brain fart midway through the fourth quarter. There was pressure, he didn’t want to get sacked, he half-heaved, half-chest-passed the ball to . . . Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson for the easy pick-six. “You cannot make a bad play worse,” the FOX announcers chided.
It wasn’t just Levis. After a promising first half, the Titans’ progress came to a screeching halt. The defense did its job, but the special teams tripped all over themselves.
Is this a one-off? A harbinger of more disappointment? The next chance to gauge the team’s progress (or regression) is Saturday (noon CT, CBS), when the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers come to town for the Titans’ home opener.
Vote here and tell us how optimistic (pessimistic) you are about this Titans season.
