FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – It was a big day of firsts for the North Dakota State Bison. In the first home game of the season, five Bison scored their first collegiate touchdowns, and Tim Polasek won his first game as NDSU’s Head Coach.
”It’s an honor to be this program’s head coach, and during the national anthem, I got a little bit choked up,” Polasek said. “It’s good to get it out of the way, but this win represents the 2024 team, but this will be cool when we put this up on the bar and tell stories about it. It’s a big deal.”
There wasn’t much suspense in this victory, as North Dakota St. took the lead and steadily spread it out on the scoreboard with a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and a 35-0 lead at halftime.
Bryce Lance played an excellent game, catching seven passes for 106 yards and his first two collegiate touchdowns in a breakout performance.
Plus, Shanley’s own John Gores returned a punt for 67 yards and found the end zone for his first college touchdown as well.
After the game, quarterback Cam Miller presented Polasek with the game ball.
“Everything that he’s done for the program in the last eight months has been unbelievable,” Miller said. “He’s really cared about the guys in the locker room. Everyone was super emotional and super excited for him to get his first win. For us to win his first game here in the dome was really special.”
Next up, another Tennessee special for the Bison, as North Dakota St. will face East Tennessee St. in Johnson City next Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
