The Boston office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the agency has arrested an illegal immigrant suspected of rape.
In a statement released Friday, the Boston field office reported the arrest of Jorge Luis Castro-Alvarado, Fox News reported.
The Boston branch of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal operations said Castro-Alvarado “unlawfully entered the United States before making his way to Massachusetts and allegedly victimizing a resident here.”
The Guatemalan national entered the U.S. without inspection, admission, or parole, ICE said. The agency is still trying to determine when and where Castro-Alvarado illegally entered the U.S.
ERO Boston issued an immigration detainer for Castro-Alvarado after he was arrested for assault and battery of a family or household member. A Massachusetts court sentenced Castro-Alvarado to 18 months, which was later reduced to six months.
Another court ignored ICE’s immigration detainer and released Castro-Alvarado on bail without notifying the agency.
