BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Former Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has announced he is endorsing State Sen. Cleo Fields, Democrat, for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District.
Edwards released the following statement on X, formerly known as Twitter regarding his endorsement of Fields.
“Now more than ever, we need strong voices in Congress who will fight for our values and our state. Cleo Fields is that voice. Cleo has dedicated his life to public service, working tirelessly for education, healthcare and economic opportunity. He has been a champion for the people of Louisiana, and I know he will bring that same passion, dedication, and experience to Congress.”

Fields is currently in the running for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District. Other candidates in the race include Quentin Anderson, Democrat, Elbert Guillory, Democrat, Wilken Jones Jr., Democrat and Peter Williams, Democrat.

The primary election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The general election will determine any runoffs and is set for Saturday, Dec. 7.
