NEED TO KNOWIsraeli protests intensify after 6 hostages killed
Protests in Israel ramped up yesterday to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a deal that would bring home Hamas’s remaining hostages after six were found dead.
Calls for a deal: Banks were closed and hospitals and major airport hubs were only partially operating as Israel’s largest labor union — with hundreds of thousands of members — went on strike as part of the protests. [CBS News]
Bidding farewell: A funeral was held for Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, one of the six hostages believed to have been killed within 48 hours of Israeli forces arriving at their location in Gaza. Some saw him as a symbol of the hostage crisis. [Reuters]
Ceasefire deal: Israel’s defense minister called for more flexibility from Israel’s security Cabinet in negotiations, while President Biden said yesterday that Netanyahu wasn’t doing enough to secure a deal. [NBC News]

Erin: Did you know September is Better Breakfast Month? It’s a good reminder to start the day with something healthy. I’d suggest protein-packed Greek yogurt topped with fresh fruit. Don’t forget to add honey, which may boost its digestive benefits.
Anthony: Do you know of any fun activities that are worth adding to the calendar?
Erin: I’m most excited for the Harvest Moon on Sept. 17, but this is also a great time to embrace fall and cooler temps. Leaf peeping, fun runs that aren’t so sweaty and visits to orchards are all on my agenda.
Anthony: Which doctor’s appointments should I schedule this month?
Erin: First and foremost, I’d be on the lookout for new COVID boosters, which will be rolling out this month. And since it’s also Sexual Health Awareness Month, make sure you’re up to date on ovarian and prostate cancer screenings.
