GOLDEN VALLEY, AZ (AZFamily) — A suspect is now in custody with Nevada authorities after a shooting involving Arizona sheriff’s deputies on Saturday morning.
Just after 11 a.m., Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Highway 68 in Golden Valley, just west of Kingman, for reports about an armed person in a stolen U-Haul. Deputies first arrived in the area and found the vehicle missing, but they later located it.
While locating the stolen vehicle, authorities say the officer-involved shooting occurred, and the suspect sped away from the scene. However, the suspect was later taken into custody by the Bullhead City Police Department and transferred to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department have been called to investigate the shooting. Mohave County authorities say it is standard protocol to have an outside agency investigate a shooting involving law enforcement.
Deputies and the suspect weren’t injured during the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
This is the 65th officer-involved shooting in Arizona this year.
