Aug. 31—A shipping issue has caused a uniform change ahead of New Mexico’s game against No. 21 Arizona.
UNM was scheduled to wear its regular white road jerseys, but failed to receive the full shipment of resized jerseys ahead of Saturday’s game. The Lobos will don red jerseys with silver pants and helmets as they take on the Wildcats.
“We are very appreciative of the University of Arizona working with us on this late change,” UNM spokesperson Frank Mercogliano told the Journal.
In turn, Arizona is switching to all white uniforms for its season opener. The 21st-ranked Wildcats are 31.5-point favorites heading into their first game against UNM since a 45-37 Arizona win in the 2015 New Mexico Bowl.
UNM-Arizona kicks off at 8:30 p.m. MT on ESPN.
