New Mexico State kicks off its season against Southeast Missouri State (1-0) at home at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The Aggies finished 10-5 in 2023, their second 10-win season in school history. NM State appeared in the Conference USA Championship Game in their first season in the conference, falling to Liberty, before losing to Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl. The Aggies are looking to become 1-0 for the first time since 2014 and reach three consecutive bowl games for the first time in school history this season.
SEMO defeated North Alabama 37-15 in the FCS Kickoff Game in Montgomery, Ala. last Saturday. Redhawks’ running back Payton Brown rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns against the Lions, while their defense tallied four takeaways. SEMO competes at the FCS level as a Big South-OVC Football Association member.
Sophomore Parker Awad will start at quarterback for the Aggies after a close battle, although senior quarterback Deuce Hogan may be featured at some point.
