RIMROCK, AZ (AZFamily) — A woman is dead following a two-vehicle head-on collision in Yavapai County late Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near Beaver Creek Road and Stevenson Drive in Rimrock. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, that’s when a white Volkswagen Passat collided with a silver Toyota RAV4.
When deputies arrived, two bystanders were trying to help the injured 74-year-old driver of the Volkswagen. Paramedics arrived soon after and got her out of the car, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota was not hurt.
Deputies are investigating a deadly head-on collision that happened in Rimrock earlier this week.
Another driver who witnessed the crash told deputies she was behind the Toyota while driving on Beaver Creek Road when she saw the Volkswagen heading in the opposite direction. She said the car then came into their lane and hit the RAV4.
It’s unclear if the Passat driver experienced a medical condition before hitting the Toyota. The crash remains under investigation.
