Year 2 of the Deion Sanders Era at Colorado begins in earnest Thursday evening with the Buffaloes opening their 2024 season at home against North Dakota State.
Sanders turned Boulder, Colorado into the capital of college football last September, ushering the Buffaloes to an attention-grabbing 3-0 start. But injuries and the rigors of the Pac-12 ultimately caught up to Colorado, which lost eight of its last nine games en route to a 4-8 season.
Now the Buffaloes start anew, buoyed by the return of two of the most exciting players in college football. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders — a likely first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft — threw for 27 touchdowns and just three interceptions last year. Two-way phenom Travis Hunter stars at cornerback and wide receiver, having earned First Team All-American honors last season.
Though North Dakota State is an FCS opponent, the Bison are no pushover. An undeniable FCS powerhouse, North Dakota State has won nine FCS championships in the past 13 seasons.
Much like the Buffaloes last season, the Bison are beginning a new era, having hired coach Tim Polasek in December. But Polasek is no stranger to the program, having previously served two separate stints as an assistant coach with the Bison.
