The Ohio State football team is making some changes to the pregame routine we are all used to. Last year the Buckeyes would stay at the Blackwell Inn, which is near Ohio Stadium on campus and arrive to the stadium dressed to the nines. But this season will be different, which may be a good sign.
Ohio State will now stay at a hotel downtown the Friday before games, which will supposedly allow for more space for walkthroughs and avoid the distractions that occur at the Blackwell Inn as it holds events throughout the season.
The biggest and most noticeable change to the Buckeye pregame routine will be the attire. Instead of the weekly fashion show we were greeted to every weekend, every player will be wearing the same team issued sweatsuit. In my opinion, this is a great decision.
Football is about teamwork and everyone wearing the same clothes from the stars down to the walk-ons is a step towards unity. Don’t get me wrong, it was fun seeing players wear shoes that were more valuable than my car, but this feels like a small change with positive consequences.
