The WWE Hall of Fame has a variety of honorees, ranging from former world champions like Macho Man Randy Savage to iconic managers like Paul Heyman.
Then there’s the celebrity wing.
Celebrities have always had a part in professional wrestling, especially in the WWE. People like Andy Kaufman and Muhammad Ali definitely deserve their entries since they contributed to massive stories and actually wrestled.
Others, like Drew Carey and Kid Rock, are more frowned upon because they didn’t actually contribute to any in-ring matches or stories.
One of the most controversial figures in the WWE Hall of Fame is former president Donald Trump. In fact, he’s so controversial that one Hall of Famer almost left the Hall of Fame completely because of his entry.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, WWE Hall of Famer and former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura opened up about whether he ever thought about running for president and shared his disdain for Trump.
“If I had ballot access in all 50 states, and I were allowed in the debates, I’d be the next President of the United States,” Ventura said, emphasizing that he means in the present day.
“You see, I have an objection to one of these candidates. And I object to him – and I can say ‘him’ so you know who it is now – I can object to him because he is in the wrestling Hall of Fame. And I’ve almost resigned from it on two or three occasions because of that.”
Despite his animosity towards Trump, Ventura did have a cordial moment in the past with the former president ringside at a WWE event. Still, Ventura says things have changed.
“He’s not the same man,” Ventura said. “He ain’t the same guy. And you learn more about people as time goes on.”
Originally known as Jesse “The Body” Ventura, Ventura began his wrestling career after he left the military in 1975. He would wrestle primarily as a heel, holding titles across multiple promotions.
Eventually, he would find himself with the WWF, now WWE, where he would work as a wrestler, performer, and commentator. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004.
Ventura also served as the governor of Minnesota from 1999-2003 as a member of the Reform/Independence party. Most recently, he has put his support behind Kamala Harris and current Minnesota governor Tim Walz.
