WNBA star Caitlin Clark is accustomed to doting fans.
Clark has been signing autographs in sold-out arenas across the country since her Iowa days. Earlier this month, she even autographed a 2-week-old baby’s onesie at a Fever event.
But after breaking the WNBA’s rookie 3-point record in an 84-80 win over the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Clark was the one having a starstruck moment.
The entire team was thrilled to meet Olympic Gold medalists Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas after their victory. They cheered for one another as they hugged and posed for photos Olympians.
Indiana posted video of the team’s reaction to social media:
“The squad was ecstatic to meet Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas after our win,” they wrote.
Clark even reposted the meeting to her Instagram Story with the caption: “Lemme fan girl real quick.”
Biles also shared the Fever’s video with an uplifting message of her own: “EVERYONE WATCHES WOMENS SPORTS so happy to be able to go support! my first of many WNBA games.”
The rookie sensation also reposted a video from Simone’s Instagram of her hitting one a 3-pointer, accompanied with three heart emojis.
Clark set the rookie record with a 3-pointer in the first quarter. She added two more 3s to bring her season total to 88. Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream set the previous record with 85 3s in 2022.
