Travis Kelce has entered the world of racehorse ownership. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end recently bought a stake in a 3-year-old gelding that notably shares a portion of his name with Kelce’s superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift.
Kelce and the Zoldan family, the owners of Phantom Fireworks, acquired a significant share of Team Valor’s interest in the racehorse named Swift Delivery, Team Valor International founder and CEO Barry Irwin announced Tuesday.
Irwin told the Associated Press he met Kelce at the Kentucky Derby and they spoke about horses. He also shared with the AP that Swift Delivery was not named after Taylor Swift, calling it “a total coincidence.”
“When this horse came to light and it was owned by one of my partners already, with the name I figured this has got to be a no-brainer,” Irwin told the AP.

Kelce and Swift’s relationship, which began about a year ago, has elevated the global popularity of the football star. Kelce appeared at Swift’s “Eras Tour” concerts this summer, including a surprise on-stage appearance for her show at London’s Wembley Stadium. Swift attended Kelce’s games with the Chiefs last season, including their Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Swift Delivery is coming off wins in his last two starts at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto and is set to next race on Saturday at Woodbine. Patrick Husbands is the jockey for Swift Delivery, the son of Not This Time.
Kelce’s ownership follows the involvement of other famed athletes in horseracing, including former MLB All-Star Jayson Werth, who is part of the ownership group of Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch, and NHL defenseman Erik Johnson.
