Law enforcement will be setting up two sobriety checkpoints in western North Dakota during the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Williams County Sheriff’s Office and Williston Police Department will conduct a checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Williams County on Friday. The Patrol and Dickinson Police Department will conduct DUI saturation patrols on Friday and Saturday, and have a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Stark County on Saturday.
The goal of sobriety checkpoints is to deter people from driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“Our goal is to keep the roads safe for all drivers,” Patrol Southwest Regional Sgt. Shawn Skogen said.
North Dakota has a Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on state roads. For more information, go to
