Meg Ryan, celebrated for rom-coms like “When Harry Met Sally,” returns to the genre with “What Happens Later,” also starring David Duchovny.

The make out spot or “parking” is a staple in rom coms of the 70s, 80s and 90s and a dating rite of passage for crazy kids in love (or in puppy love).
Whether it’s Rizzo and Kenickie in “Grease,” or the raunchier “American Pie” and “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” kids kissing in the glow of a dashboard is something that is almost synonymous with handsy teenagers – at least, in pop culture.
Dating website DatingNews.com just released a survey, ranking the top 150 make out spots in the U.S., and one of Florida’s most scenic coastal roads made the top 10.
But whether you’re a teenager looking for a place to “park” with your sweetheart or an adult couple attempting to feel young again – you don’t want to draw attention to a steamy parked car.
Here’s where the survey results said the “best” make out spot in Florida is and the rules around getting spicy with your partner in a public place in Florida.
Best spots to park for a make out
“Maybe it’s the thrill of being intimate in a public place, or maybe we’re just really turned on by the scent of Corinthian leather. One thing is certain: American couples love getting romantic in secluded, scenic spots across the country,” the DatingNews.com survey said.
“We surveyed 3,000 Americans to find out which locations are the most conducive to a bit of automotive erotica.”
Hana Highway, a scenic highway on the island of Maui, Hawaii, took first place on this list.
“Connecting the towns of Hana and Kauai, the 64.4-mile-long Hana Highway is perfect for stimulating some scenic smooching,” the survey said.
“Perhaps you and your partner can get lost in each other’s eyes over a cup of Kona coffee in one of the quaint cafes along your route.”
But you don’t have to go all the way to Hawaii for a scenic highway smooch – one of Florida’s coastal highways took ninth place: the A1A Coastal Highway that runs along the east coast of Florida.
“Stretching along Florida’s Atlantic Coast, the A1A Coastal Highway is the Sunshine State’s most storied road. There’s no shortage of smooch stops along this route, whether you’re watching a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral or roaming the streets of St. Augustine,” the survey said.
But we don’t recommend kissing and driving, so make sure you pull over and park in a safe place before you start getting steamy.

It isn’t illegal to kiss or make out in a car, or in public, in Florida. At which point clothes start coming off or private body parts are exposed, though, you’re in danger of catching an indecent exposure charge.
Is making out in public indecent exposure?
As long as everyone’s private parts stay in their pants, you aren’t in danger of being charged with indecent exposure or lewdness in Florida. You’re free to make out anywhere you’d like – on a park bench, in your car, or even in the grocery store – just use your discretion of what’s appropriate.

Breastfeeding is excluded from this statute. If a woman is simply breastfeeding, she can’t be charged with indecent exposure or lewdness.
Where does A1A start and end in Florida?
State Road A1A on Florida’s east coast runs from north Florida, just below the Georgia border, through the Florida Keys. It’s an over-300-mile road, with plenty of beautiful places to stop.

This isn’t a list of good make-out spots, because AAA doesn’t specialize in romance or kissing. These are just cool places to stop and see along A1A in North Florida – although, most of these places can be very romantic.
