COLUMBIA — South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley revealed Thursday she was in Chicago for the final night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Throughout the evening, Staley shared pictures on social media of her and various attendees, including Tim Walz, who is running with current Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race.
Staley captioned the photo with Walz, the governor of Minnesota, and his daughter Hope, wife Gwen and U.S. Congressman Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, “VP and family. @Tim_Walz let’s get that done like @GamecockWBB in Minnesota in 2022!”
The caption was a nod to the Gamecocks’ second national title, which they won in Minneapolis.
Staley did not formally participate in any of the speeches or events airing on television from the DNC, but according to images she posted, she spent some of the time backstage and the rest in the audience.
