Storm chances for eastern Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Much drier air has moved into the state, with the lower deserts’ dew points in the 40s. Showers and thunderstorms have developed over eastern Arizona this afternoon and will continue on and off throughout the evening.

On Monday afternoon, thunderstorm activity will also focus on the higher terrain areas of eastern and southeastern Arizona, with most other areas in the state staying dry.

An upper-level trough continues to pass far north of the region while high pressure slightly builds over the Southwest. By Tuesday, we will see a slight increase in moisture across the state, with storm chances possible across the higher terrain into Wednesday.

Here in Phoenix, there is just a slight chance of seeing that activity move into the lower deserts, around 20% for Tuesday evening.

Temperatures will hover around seasonal for the next few days, in the 105-107 range as we head into the weekend.
