Donald Trump formally accepts Republican nomination at RNC
Donald Trump made it official and accepted the Republican nomination for president on the final night of the Republican National Convention.
WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump plans to hold a town hall discussion in La Crosse this Thursday, his campaign said.
The visit to western Wisconsin will be Trump’s first since he accepted the Republican presidential nomination in Milwaukee last month. His running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, has been in Wisconsin each of the past three weeks.
The Trump campaign on Saturday said the former president will meet with voters in La Crosse “to listen to their concerns and share his promising agenda: to make America affordable again.” He is expected to appear at the La Crosse Center about 6 p.m. Central Time.
“The notorious swing state voters are eager to discuss kitchen table issues with President Trump and his commonsense solutions are exactly what will drive voters to the ballot box in droves this November,” the campaign said in a brief statement.
Both campaigns have made Wisconsin a campaign priority over the last several weeks. As Vance held press conferences in Eau Claire, Milwaukee and Kenosha, Vice President Kamala Harris, Democrats’ presidential nominee, and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz have also appeared across the state.
Last Tuesday, Harris and Walz rallied in Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
The event, which the Harris campaign said drew about 18,000 people, was briefly live-streamed into convention proceedings at the United Center.
