Storm chances return to Arizona this weekend

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Sunny and hot weather conditions are expected in the Valley today, with morning temperatures in the 80s and 90s warming to 112 degrees this afternoon. That’s seven degrees above normal for this time of year in Phoenix and just three degrees shy of the record for today’s date.

High pressure is shifting and amplifying over our region, bringing a weather pattern chance to Arizona this weekend. Monsoon moisture will begin moving back into Arizona tonight from the southeast. This will bring increased storm chances to mainly the higher elevations this weekend.

Communities like Flagstaff, Prescott and Show Low have 50-70% storm chances this weekend. In the Valley, storm chances are closer to 10%. More likely, the Valley will see gusty outflow winds and blowing dust with limited rainfall.

Hot temperatures continue, with Valley highs near 110 to 111 this weekend, climbing to 113 degrees by Monday. Slight storm chances continue through at least the middle of next week.
