Sweet Grown Alabama, the state’s agricultural branding program, is pleased to welcome the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as a bronze financial supporter of the non-profit organization.
“TVA and Sweet Grown Alabama share a common mission of economic growth and enriching the communities we have the privilege to serve,” shared Jared Mitchem, Regional Executive for the Tennessee Valley Authority. “This partnership reflects our continual efforts to make life better for the people of Alabama and throughout the entire Tennessee Valley region.”
“Supporting Sweet Grown Alabama aligns with TVA’s history and agricultural programs dating back to the 1950s, including the development of fertilizers and improved management techniques that were revolutionary and adopted by farmers nationwide,” said Danny McWilliams, Government Relations Manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Sweet Grown Alabama connects consumers to locally grown products through an online searchable database at SweetGrownAlabama.org. This contribution from TVA will be utilized to ensure more Alabamians are aware of this free resource to access local produce, meat, honey and more.
“TVA is a leader in North Alabama in not only providing power but also economic development,” said Sweet Grown Alabama Director Ellie Watson. “Alabama consumers spending money with Alabama farmers is an incredible way to ensure our communities continue to thrive, and we are incredibly pleased that TVA believes in this sentiment just as much as we do!”
Sweet Grown Alabama is a membership program composed of over 400 farms and business statewide. In addition to the online searchable database, Sweet Grown Alabama markets local products through traditional and online advertising, speaking engagements, special events and a monthly e-newsletter.
TVA strives to make life better for the people of the Tennessee Valley region, which spans 80,000 square miles across parts of seven states in the Southeast. They provide safe, clean, reliable and affordable electricity; support a robust, award-winning economic development policy that has created prosperous communities throughout the region; and uphold an environmental stewardship program that has created some of the most beautiful and productive waterways in the United States.
