Move over California. If you’re looking for the best place in the country for an elevated wine tasting experience, Oregon is where you want to be, according to USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
Vineyards in the Willamette Valley took spots No. 1, 3 and 4 on the list of the “Top 10 wine tasting rooms you need to visit.” The tasting rooms were nominated by a panel of experts and voted on by readers.
The No. 1 spot belongs to Willamette Valley Vineyards in Turner. “Whether you’re seeking a classic tasting experience, looking to create your own journey with a tableside tasting, or hoping to find some new pairings for your favorite dishes, the Estate Tasting Room at Willamette Valley Vineyards has it all,” USA Today says.
The Estate Tasting Room offers tableside service with or without reservations. Food pairings and a chef’s counter are also available.
No. 3 on USA Today’s list is Stoller Family Estate in Dayton. The stunning views got a shout out, which came as no surprise to us. The 4,000-square-foot tasting room has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the winery’s rolling hillside, and on sunny days, the reflective floor makes it feel like you’re walking on the sky.
And coming in at No. 4 is Durant Vineyards in Dayton. Views here include Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson. When you’re done at their wine tasting room, you can stop by The Farm Shop to sample the award-winning olive oil they make at Durant Olive Mill, Oregon’s only commercial olive miller.
Rounding out a Pacific Northwest itinerary, you can head to Washington’s Long Shadows Vintners in Walla Walla and Woodinville, which took the No. 10 spot.
