COLUMBIA — When Dawn Staley said nobody wants to play South Carolina women’s basketball, she really meant it.
In May, the South Carolina coach opened up about the difficulties when finalizing the Gamecocks nonconference plans for the 2024-25 season, and said “Scheduling is really hard because people don’t want to play us.”
Since then, almost all of South Carolina’s 2024-25 nonconference games have been revealed, however Staley had to resort to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday night with one final plea for a non-SEC game.
“Really sorry I have to resort to this but-we need a game. I’ve had some nice, funny and outlandish convos regarding scheduling a game H/H with a guarantee and guaranteed a great student-athlete experience,” Staley wrote. “Any interest please let me know. Need to finish this schedule.”

This may be because Bowling Green, who are due to complete the home-and-home deal with South Carolina this year in Columbia, can’t work out a game but there is no formal confirmation on the status of that game.
The Gamecocks have played Clemson the last three years, but that in-state matchup is not among the 12 nonconference games that have already been announced. South Carolina opens its season in a little less than three months against Michigan at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
