LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Irish boxer Wayne McCullough has had multiple unforgettable experiences surrounding the Olympic games.
Sports Director Bryan Salmond sat down with the 1992 Olympic Silver Medalist to reminisce.
Wayne’s Olympic journey started with 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. Where he won one fight and lost one fight, but gained valuable experience in international competition. Wayne also enjoyed the honor of carrying the Irish flag during the opening ceremonies in Seoul.
In 1992 Wayne did much better in completion. Reaching the Gold Medal match, where he lost to the Gold Medalist Joel Casamayor. Interestingly enough. Casamayor now lives in Las Vegas where both Wayne and Joel were inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame 2019.
Wayne also talked about his unforgettable experience carrying the Olympic torch through his neighborhood in Belfast, Ireland back in 1992.

All the favored teams in the first three men’s basketball quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics had problems. Canada lost to France. Serbia erased a 24-point deficit to beat Australia. Germany had to shake off a double-digit deficit before beating Greece.
So, going into the fourth and final game of the night, the U.S. knew what it had to do.
“We wanted to come out and make sure we were the aggressor,” U.S. coach Steve Kerr.
They made it look easy, too. Devin Booker led a balanced front with 18 points and the Americans had little trouble with Brazil in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics, winning 122-87 on Tuesday.
