The Michigan District 5 champions from the Taylor North Little League became the first American team to win two games in this year’s Junior League Baseball World Series.
The Taylor, Michigan, team defeated the USA Central Region champs from the Elmhurst/River Forest Youth Baseball Little League, Illinois, 13-0.
Taylor North pitchers Kole Boike, Richard Loriaux and Tristan Spencer combined on five-inning, four-hit shutout, striking out 10.
Teammate Carmino Koski went 2-for-2, scored two runs and had a three-run single and a two-run single for five RBI.
Both teams played in the 2023 JLWS as well. Illinois (0-1) plays next at 8 p.m. Wednesday against USA East champs DuBois, Pennsylvania (0-1) in a must-win game for both teams.
Michigan (2-0) advances to Thursday to play the Southwest champs from New Braunfels, Texas (1-0).
The Michigan-Illinois game was originally scheduled for Monday, but was moved to Tuesday after a nearly three-hour rain delay in an earlier Monday game didn’t leave enough time to get the contest in under curfew, according to Little League International.

A lengthy rain throughout Tuesday caused organizers to postpone the other three scheduled games to Wednesday. All games are played at Taylor’s Heritage Park.
