The US Coast Guard has suspended search efforts for four people who were missing after the boat they were on capsized near Homer in south-central Alaska on Saturday.
The missing have been identified as a family from Troy, Texas—Mary and David Maynard, and their sons Colton, 11, and Brantley, 7. According to the Anchorage Daily News, Mary Maynard was a traveling nurse and David Maynard managed a lawn care business at home. The family enjoyed traveling and spending time with loved ones.
A report indicated the 28-foot aluminum boat carrying eight people began taking on water. Although nearby ships were alerted and four individuals were rescued, the Coast Guard suspended further search efforts Sunday evening. Details on the rescued individuals and the cause of the incident remain unavailable.
