Miss USA pageant names third crown-holder this year

(CNN) – The Miss USA pageant has a crown-holder for the third time this year – Army Officer Alma Cooper of Michigan.

Cooper is a Stanford alumna who says she’s proud to be the daughter of a migrant worker.

She takes over the crown from Hawaii’s contestant, Savannah Gankiewicz, who inherited it when the initial winner stepped down.

Utah’s Noelia Voigt cited a “toxic work environment” in a resignation letter obtained by CNN.

Miss Teen USA’s resignation days later is another reason the organization has been in turmoil.
