Louisville residents wondering what impact Hurricane Debby might have on Kentucky’s weather needn’t worry. While the tropical storm is off drenching states along the Southeast, meteorologists say Louisville won’t get so much as a single raindrop — conditions they say will last a while.
“From now through early next week, we pretty much have no rain forecast at all,” said David Witten on Monday, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Paducah. “After the active weather we’ve had, this is certainly a nice, welcome break.”
When could rain return to Kentucky?
Witten said Kentucky will have mostly dry weather for the next several days but things could get wetter closer to mid-August.
“Maybe the middle to the second half of next week at the earliest is when things might get wetter again,” he said. “Until then, our rain chances are very minimum and most of the time it should remain dry.”

Hurricane Debby slammed into Florida’s coastline Monday morning with 80 mph winds and the potential to bring catastrophic flooding to portions of the Southeast. Along with heavy rainfall, the National Hurricane Center warned the powerful storm could push a wall of seawater 6-10 feet above ground level on the Florida coast.
Debby will move slowly across Northern Florida before drenching southeast Georgia and parts of South Carolina in “potentially historic” rainfall of up to 20 inches, according to USA TODAY.
